Projected into the media spotlight after a Tweeted “wow” from Stephen Fry prompted two million views of his extraordinary guitar playing on YouTube, tickets to Jon Gomm’s gigs worldwide are selling quicker than his flying fingers.

Even better, you can see him perform at this year’s Worcester Music Festival for free. Yay! Here, we find out more about the hottest of hot things in guitardom…

How would you describe yourself?

An introverted extrovert and intellectual dumbass. Oh, and a musician.

How would you describe your music?

Acoustic singer songwriter who plays guitar in exciting ways (3,4).

Which song would you dump in room 101?

Hmm. So many. So, so many. Fix You by Coldplay. Rock Star by Nickelback. Umbrella by whoever that is by.

Who is your inspiration?

There’s so, so many. Musicians Michael Hedges and Nick Harper are my two biggest, single musical influences, I think.

What annoys you most?

My own confusion.

What’s your favourite pudding?

Erm, I don’t know, black pudding because it terrifies Americans in an hilarious way?

Are you in love?

Are you?

Do you have a reccurring dream? If so, what is it?

Where did you play at Worcester Music Festival?

I mostly played at Marr’s Bar, which is a wonderful venue. Most towns, even bigger cities, do not have a venue that is as cool, well laid out and well run as Marr’s Bar. Cherish it, people of Worcester!

What was the experience like?

Gigs in Worcester are always good, but the last WMF gig was particularly great, I’m so grateful to the audience that night. A full house, mostly of very keen audience members, but there were a few passersby too and they had to be won over. If I have to win them over on my own, it can sometimes be hard, but when I have a hundred or two other people in the room all trying to HELP me win them over, it’s easy. So, if you were there, thanks.
