Worcester Music Festival has announced that applications are now open for charities to apply to be this year’s chosen cause.

Every year, the festival selects a different local charity to support, raising both money and awareness over the course of the three-day event, which, in 2024, will take place across the 13th-15th September in Worcester’s lively city centre. Applications must be in by 10th February 2024.

During the 2023 event, the weekend-long celebration of music had an incredible impact on the year’s charity: The Myriad Centre. Alongside raising a staggering £5,345.90, the festival showcased the charity’s vital work to thousands of festival-goers.

Ant Robbins, Festival Director, commented:

“We had an amazing festival in 2023, raising the most amount of money over the weekend in the festival’s history. The Myriad Centre carries out vital work in the local area, providing specialist care for young people with serious disabilities and an emotional lifeline for their families. Having seen first-hand the impact this charity has on its service users, we are incredibly proud to have been able to support their ongoing work.

Em Branson, Marketing Director, added:

“As we gear up for the 2024 Worcester Music Festival, we’re searching for a cause that matters. Charities, this is your cue! We’re all about supporting our community, and invite all charitable causes in Worcestershire to apply – your cause could be the one we rally behind this year!”

Charities are invited to complete the festival’s application form, providing information on what they do, who they help, and, most importantly, if there is a specific project they’re working on and need support with. In previous years, the festival has supported Worcester Community Trust, Worcester Foodbank and Worcestershire Association of Carers.

Every year, the festival relies on generous contributions from the public to raise money for the chosen cause. Charity donation tins are placed across the festival’s 20 venues, and a creative team, dressed in an eye-catching array of costumes, are always out with donation buckets.

Applications to be the charity of the year 2024 have now closed.
