UPDATE: APPLICATIONS HAVE CLOSED FOR 2020

Applications have now opened for Worcester Music Festival’s chosen charity of 2020.

Every year, the festival chooses to support a different local charity, raising money over the course of the musical weekend, which, in 2020, will take place across the 11-13 September in Worcester’s vibrant city centre. Applications must be in for 8 February 2020.

During the 2019 event, the three-day celebration of music and art raised an astonishing £5,216.38 for the Worcester Foodbank.

Nikki Boraston, Festival Director, commented:

“Last year, the festival chose Worcester Foodbank as our chosen charity and it really was a great cause. Each year, more and more families end up in crisis and rely heavily on the invaluable support offered by the foodbank. It was important to every member of the committee to support the initiative that supports the most vulnerable members of our local community.”

“Now, we’re focusing on next year. We had such a phenomenal experience during 2019, and we want to make 2020 even better – we just need an important cause to support as we do it!”

Charities are invited to complete the festival’s application form, providing information on what they do, who they help, and, most importantly, if there is a specific project they’re working on and need support with.

In previous years, the festival has supported Worcestershire Association of Carers who used the funds raised to support their carer’s choir, along with St. Paul’s Hostel Acorns Children’s Hospice and Worcestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre.

Each year, a majority of the he money raised by the festival is from the generous donations from the public. Throughout the festival’s 20 venues are charity donation boxes and an inventive and eye-catching team are always out with buckets, dressed in a surprising range of costumes.

Worcester Music Festival was launched in 2008, featuring a small number of venues and artists. It has since flourished into a weekend long event that supports both the local music scene and the community at large, giving artists a platform to perform on while donating to worthy causes. Now, the event features over 250 artists in 20 venues, situated right in the heart of the faithful city.
