This year’s festival programme boasts 14 free workshops, including dance taster sessions, introductory sessions to learn new instruments and jamming sessions for more experienced musicians. Here is an overview of the dance workshops.

Belly Dance for Beginners

Master some basic belly dance moves with expert instructor Liz Smith. Suitable for all ages and abilities, this session will have you feeling like an Arabian princess in no time. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring flat comfortable shoes to dance in (or your bare feet) and a veil (or piece of light fabric approx. 1m x 1.5m).

 

Latin Salsa

Fancy a little salsa to spice up the soles of your feet? Come to Angie Williams’ workshop and learn some basic routines. No partner is necessary and absolute beginners are welcome. All you need is comfortable clothing and well fitting shoes that stay firmly on the feet – no flip flops 

Bollywood Experience

Join Allia Khan for a fun-packed dance workshop for that blends vibrant belly dance with classical Indian moves. By all accounts a fun and energetic workshop to get the body heart and soul pumping.

 

Jenny Jitterbugs: Toddler Dancing Workshop

Bring your toddler to this dance class for children aged 18 months (or walking) to 4 years. This workshop will focus on dance, movement and rhythm using props, music and imagination.

 

Appalachian Dancing Workshop

Come along and lean a few new dance steps with Soft Option. If you haven’t encountered this type of dance before, its similar to tap dancing to blue grass music. Fiddle, banjo and guitar provide the tune and the dancers, the percussion!
