COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED – GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ENTERED

Visitors to this year’s Worcester Music Festival who took any images with a ‘wow’ factor over the three-day event can enter their works of art in the annual photography competition.

Entry is free and open to all amateur photographers, with each participant allowed to submit up to 25 photos, they just need to have been taken during the free festival that took place in scores of diverse venues, on outdoor stages and in the streets across the city centre.

Judging will take place in the first couple of weeks in October, with the owner of the winning photo receiving a £100 camera store voucher courtesy of festival sponsor Child Care Bureau, which provides vital services to families county-wide, with prizes also lined up for the runners up.

Judge Steve Johnston (www.rockmusicphotographer.co.uk), who will be joined on the panel by accomplished music photographers Joe Singh (www.snaprockandpop.co.uk) and James Watkins (www.jcwatkinsphotography.com) this year, said the images could be of anything directly related to the festival.

“Last year’s winning entry was a dramatic shot of the lead guitarist of Birmingham instrumental rock band Arbor Lights and in second place, a stunning picture of Japanese pop band No Cars against the distinctive backdrop of Monroes Cellar Bar basement,” he said.

“However, third place was awarded for a really fun image of a man in a go-kart with the festival charity team and other live music fans down by Café Bliss, which goes to show just how much scope there is. If you have any photos you’re particularly proud of and want to show off to the world, send them in. Best of luck!”

The closing date for entries is Midnight on Sunday 4th October after which the top 25 images will be chosen and displayed at an exhibition, before a prize giving ceremony on Saturday 17th October at Worcester Arts Workshop.
