The first bands and artists set to play at Worcester Music Festival 2015 have been confirmed.

Nearly 100 acts have now been confirmed for this year’s annual FREE live music event as our trusty arsenal of promoters continue to put together the final line-up, with around 250 slots available.

Newcomers to the festival from Worcester itself include indie folk five-piece Chase the Deer, math rockers Esuna and riff-rock band Hipflask Virgins, the latter having supported the likes of The Subways, Ocean Colour Scene, Athlete and Twin Atlantic.

From further afield, we are looking forward to welcoming singer-songwriter Alfie Jack from Lincolnshire, reggae dub band The Barefoot Bandit from Exeter and hardcore outfit Constructor from south Wales.

The bill also includes rockerbilly group The Superkings from Nottingham, and Leicester-based Collosloth, who pledge to defy categorisation with their “hybrid of threatening industrial sounds, surreal string interludes and elements of musique concrète” soundscapes.

Almost 1,000 bands and artists from across the UK put themselves forward for a slot at the celebration of live and original music before the closing date in May.

As our committee of music-lovers prepare to get their heads down and put together a final festival line-up, a quick reminder that we do still need volunteers to make it the best event ever and raise as much as possible for our charity of the year, Worcestershire Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WRSASC).

For all those looking forward to this year’s three day event, keep your eyes peeled for updates on what promises to be another fab line-up on Facebook and @worcsmusicfest on Twitter.
