Worcester Music Festival is once again putting on its successful live music photography tutorial run by three local photography experts, Joe Singh, Mark Hoy and Steve Johnston.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop<\/a> will take place this Sunday (28th<\/sup> July) at Worcester Arts Workshop between 1-4pm and aims to help both beginners and experienced photographers to enhance their skills in preparation for Worcester Music Festival\u2019s annual Photography Competition<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Worcester Music Festival\u2019s live music photography workshop is open to up to 30 people of any age who enjoy capturing live music in original photos.<\/p>\n

With no previous experience other than being able to use a camera necessary, participants will move from an introductory session on techniques, theory and equipment to practicing with live bands Calm Like A Riot<\/span> and 11:11<\/span>. Mark, Steve and Joe will then provide a post-production review, with the possibility of giving tips for the competition they will be judging.<\/p>\n

Mark Hoy<\/a>, one of the three workshop leaders, is a previous winner of the photography workshop and, as well as Joe and Steve, a judge for this year\u2019s photography competition. He can often be seen hiding behind a camera at local gigs, has had photos published in Brumlive <\/em>and by the BBC <\/em>and also enjoys band, portrait and family photography.<\/p>\n

Music photographer Joe Singh<\/a>regularly shoots for the BBC, is resident photographer for the Swan Theatre and has been a musician for over 20 years, while Steve Johnston<\/a> has been published in Guitarist magazine, has previously won Gibson Guitar\u2019s Sonisphere Festival photo competition and was shortlisted in the NME photo awards.<\/p>\n

To book a place, email photo@worcestermusicfestival.co.uk<\/a> with your name and email address, camera make \/ model, specifying if it\u2019s a compact or a dSLR. Also state whether you have taken photos at a gig before, whether you have entered Worcester Music Festival\u2019s photography competition before and what you\u2019d like to get out of the workshop.<\/p>\n

Participants need to bring a digital SLR or compact camera with memory cards – no camera phones – plus optional extras such as lenses, flash, laptop and ear plugs.<\/p>\n
