{"id":2792,"date":"2019-07-31T20:54:04","date_gmt":"2019-07-31T20:54:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worcestermusicfestival.co.uk\/?p=2792"},"modified":"2025-09-09T01:45:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T01:45:11","slug":"first-bands-announced-for-2019-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worcestermusicfestival.co.uk\/features\/first-bands-announced-for-2019-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"First bands announced for 2019 festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re excited to announce the first 100 artists who&#8217;ll perform at the 12th Worcester Music Festival.\u00a0With music workshops for all ages, as well as live performances in over 20 Worcester City venues, there\u2019s sure to be something for everyone over the festival weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The first 100 announcement brings a few old favourites, including the return of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcestermusicfestival.co.uk\/featuresbands\/evilwitch\/\">Evilwitch<\/a> \u2013 a well-known Worcester band who last played together in 2012, who many locals will remember fondly. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcestermusicfestival.co.uk\/featuresbands\/The-Whipjacks\/\">Whipjacks<\/a> bring along what is best described as \u2018pirate punk\u2019 with their driving rhythms and \u2018partial nudity\u2019.\u00a0 As well as the familiar old faces, Worcester will be welcoming some new and, in some cases, controversial ones.<\/p>\n<p>Banned from Glastonbury for their satirical cry to \u2018kill a Tory\u2019 the self-styled \u201c2-bit Punk band\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcestermusicfestival.co.uk\/featuresbands\/Killdren\/\">Killdren<\/a> are appearing for their first ever Worcester gig. We&#8217;re keen to point out they do not advocate violence towards any person or political party, of course.<\/p>\n<p>Nigel Clark from Dodgy says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis is a great festival with an amazing amount of artists giving up their time for free. It\u2019s a chance to spend the weekend exploring a wide range of music, while taking in the many splendours of the city.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The festival has been running since 2008 and is organised entirely by volunteers. It has seen thousands of acts from near and far flocking to the city to perform original music in dozens of venues \u2013 and has raised tens of thousands of pounds for different charities.
