APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED

Worcester Music Festival organisers are inviting city and county-based good causes to apply to become its charity for 2016 ahead the three-day event from 16-18 September 2016.

Applications must be in by Friday, 29th January 2016 for the chance to benefit from fundraising at the music celebration, which has raised more than £40,000 for charity since it was launched in 2008.

The committee will make its final decision in February, said chair Ant Robbins.

“Since the festival started, our charities have been an eclectic mix, from a centre which works to help autistic children to a shelter for the homeless and an organisation that provides opportunities for the deaf and blind,” he said. “It doesn’t matter whether you have just started up or have been established for a long time, we are just looking for deserving causes that need extra support.”

The 2015 festival last September, which featured 250 live gigs and scores of workshops at over 30 city venues, raised £4,148 for Worcestershire Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre.

The money raised through collections during the three-day, free celebration of live, original music in September will enable Worcestershire Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WRSASC) to take the first steps in creating a much needed specialist therapeutic counselling service for boys and girls aged 11+/
