About Singing School
Beginning with a 15 minute recital outside the Guildhall, we will then go to St Swithun’s Church, where participants will be invited to learn a new song and experience the work of the choir for approx one hour. Following this, at 12:30 participants will be invited to join choir members singing the new song (which will be accompanied by a couple of old favourites!) in an impromptu outdoor performance. Reserve place at: workshops@worcestermusicfestival.co.uk with a return email address, participant name and phone number or take your chances on the day! Male voices only, please. Age 18+
More info
Worcester Male Voice Choir was formed in 1987 from choristers who had been singing with the Worcester Police Choir. Since then the Choir has gradually grown in size and currently has more than seventy choristers. The standards and repertoire of the Choir continue to develop under the talented and committed leadership of our Musical Director Nicolas Wright ably supported by our pianist, Sheila Leatherland, whose warm up exercises are legendary. With new uniforms and granting of Charitable status in 2011 we continue to work hard to deliver our declared aims as a Choir. To this end we will be hosting an open house, free entry singing workshop for the general public on Saturday 25th August. This will commence about 10.30 a.m., will last for about 2 hours and is open to anyone - the goal is that choristers and visitors alike will learn (and record) a new song.
Most of our concerts raise funds for local and national charities and we have helped to raise well over £120,000 since 1997. We always welcome new choir members and additions to our non singing supporters, "Friends Of Worcester Male Voice Choir" who are a much appreciated part of our team.
