About our workshops

Since Worcester Music Festival’s launch in 2008, workshops, participation and music industry clinics have formed a core component of the programme.

The workshops reflect the diversity and range of musical styles and genres on offer and are usually led by musicians and artists who are also performing in one of the host of participating city venues.

Workshops cater to a wide variety of ages, interests and experience, giving continued support to and for live, local and original music in Worcester.  Many artists give their time and expertise at no cost in support of the festival’s ethos and development.

Each year, the number of workshops at the festival increases, many returning by popular demand and others making their debut in our workshops and participation listings.

This element of the festival is crucial to its longevity and growth as it nurtures and develops the skills of young and budding musicians, as well as providing training and professional development opportunities to those already established in their field.

Just as importantly, it invites people to try out and learn about new or unfamiliar musical genres in a supportive and friendly environment. All workshops are free and take place in a wide variety of city centre venues. Many venues support the festival by offering their spaces free of charge.
