Funding for Worcester Music Festival 2010
Worcester Music Festival is a non-profit making event run by an enthusiastic team of volunteers, largely local musicians or people associated with the Worcester music scene. Not only does the Festival provide a showcase for local musical talent of all genres, but it provides education and professional development opportunities through a variety of workshops and clinics.
The Festival has also successfully raised significant monies for local charities – in 2009 over £4000 was raised and donated to Worcester Talking Newspapers for the Blind and Choice Hospital Radio. Charities such as these often do not attract the level of funding of the larger national organisations, and Worcester Music Festival is proud to support these valuable local charities.
However, Worcester Music Festival is not self-funding and requires considerable financial resources to pay for the infrastructure associated with such a large, multi-venue musical event such as PA hire, professional sound engineering, printing, marketing and promotion, in addition to the costs of providing educational workshops and clinics. Funding typically comes from four sources – public money obtained through grants, which is primarily used to support the educational workshops, donations from Trusts and local businesses, revenue from advertising in the Festival Guide and private donations from individuals.
The Festival has grown considerably in its first two years, and we plan for the 2010 event to be bigger, better and even more successful than before. To do that we need more funding and more sponsors in all areas. If you feel you would like to, and are able to help sponsor the Festival (no matter how large or small the donation), then please get in touch through the Contact Us page to discuss this in more detail.
With your support we can continue to publicise the fantastic quality and diversity of our local music scene, and help raise much-need money for charity.
