Less for Murder at Worcester Music Festival

Less for Murder: Less for Murder return to the Worcester Music Festival bigger, better and sneakier than ever. Their band and their sound has grown along with their level of dissatisfaction with love, relationships and life.

Genre: Anti-folk
From: Birmingham

Profile

Less for Murder previously performed at Worcester Music Festival as a duo, but since last year husband and wife Matthew and Deborah Ritchie have been joined by Simon Reeves on bass, Simon Roe on drums and Deborah Roe on saxaphone and clarinet. Less for Murder write and perform original songs which about love and life which are darkly humorous and sometimes just plain dark. The new members of the band have seen the acoustic sound develop and mature with rich seams of funk, jazz and blues running through their performances.

"Less For Murder’s musings on life, love and relationships were hugely enjoyable, darkly humorous in places their take on marriage, kids and getting older fills a gap in the musical landscape." - Th Baron, Bearwood Shuffle 2012

"Deborah doesn’t just sing these songs she performs them. And the songs offbeat time signatures and odd chord quirks that make them stand out. Matt handles these songs on guitar with ease and when given the chance shows his voice is as strong and seasoned as his wife’s.

A lot of fun, and a far more polished act than you would expect from a singer/songwriter night, Less For Murder are the sort of band that I shouldn’t like but due to their offbeat choices, polished performance and interesting song-writing, I’m utterly charmed." Danny Smith, Area Magazine
