Profile
GORDON WOOD is a songwriter, singer and guitarist with a wealth of experience. Starting out as vocalist and bass player with various bands from the South West of England, he moved on to become part of the UK blues scene, performing alongside such artists as Dr. Feelgood, Wilco Johnson, Steve Gibbons, Geno Washington, Edwin Starr and Stevie Marriot of the Small Faces. Nowadays his music has evolved to include a much wider spectrum of influences - country, rockabilly, americana, folk and more.
A seasoned musician who knows the ropes, Wood is not only a vocalist of raw power and deep conviction and a rousing rocker with the best of them, but also a deft composer of finely crafted songs with memorable lyrics and hook-lines you just can't get out of your head.
At present he is writing and recording new material for an album to be released later in the year, and playing some live acoustic dates with long time musical associate, guitar virtuoso PHIL BIRD . . . . . . and this is one act not to be missed.

. . . . REVIEWS:-
"Wood’s finely crafted, heartfelt songs jigsaw into a panorama of the best influences in rock, blues and country" - Bristol Evening Post
. . . . "In these days of mass-marketed mediocrity what a joy it is to hear some full-tilt rootsy rock and blues played with virtuosity and heartfelt conviction" - Gloucester Citizen
. . . . "HIGHWAY BLUES is the stand out track - the opening riff gets you up from your seat and dancing. The lyrics are very good, honest and from the heart. There’s not one bad thing you can say about the whole E.P. This may only be four tracks long but if you love your acoustic blues then this is one not to be missed. Very good and highly recommended. Leaves you wanting more." - BLUES MATTERS MAGAZINE, CD Review August 2010
. . . . "The music here is a mix of blues, roots and americana and is acoustic rather than electric. The title track, an original, gets things underway and is in a stomping down home blues style with a 'Walking Blues' riff and good lead guitar. HONEY, YOU'RE STILL ON MY MIND has good lyrics and is delivered with a gruff, whiskey soaked voice and some good slide guitar to boot . . . . . . . . . . There's plenty of energy here and I guess this is a good act to catch live." - BLUES IN BRITAIN MAGAZINE, CD Review June 2010
